Newberry, SC – Join us for authentic German cuisine, biergartens, artists and
craftsmen, live music and more during the 22nd annual Newberry Oktoberfest event!
The City of Newberry’s Oktoberfest event will be held in historic downtown
Newberry on Saturday, October 7 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The event has grown to become a regional event that draws an estimated crowd of
over 35,000 people. This festival of German heritage has attractions for all ages and admission is free.
An array of fine arts and craft vendors will be lined along downtown’s Main Street
for visitors along with a food court offering authentic German food, quality
barbecue, gourmet and American fare. This year’s event will feature two
Biergarten locations offering a variety of domestic and German imported beers.
Live music will play all day to include polka and German traditional tunes, rock and
roll and other crowd favorites on the Rocktoberfest stage. At 1 p.m. the stage will
host the Best Traditional German Outfit contest for anyone attending the festival in
traditional Bavarian attire.
Families in attendance will want to stop by Kindertown, sponsored by Newberry
Hospital. Kindertown boasts the free kid’s fun park that includes a rock-climbing
wall, carousel, trampoline bungee jumping, a craft sponsored by Lowe’s as well as a
carnival organ. Vendors in this area will be selling children’s toys, knitwear, books,
shaved ice and more.
While you’re downtown, visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the
Newberry Opera House, see free puppet shows at the Ritz Theater and view cars
from the local Midlands SC Muscle and Classic Car group. In addition, local shops
and restaurants in downtown Newberry will be open for business.
