After spending time with Jason and Tia Devette along with their three amazing children Zavier, Laila, and Benjamin there are three words that come to mind; Faith, Family, and Fun. Nothing is more important to Jason and Tia than loving God, loving their family, and loving others. It’s genuine, real, and sincere affection that comes through each and every time you visit.
Tia has resided in Newberry for the majority of her life. She is a graduate of Piedmont Technical College with a degree in nursing. She worked at Newberry County Memorial Hospital for 9 years as an Emergency Room nurse. Jason is a Newberry College alumni. He graduated from Newberry College with a degree in Leisure Services while minoring in Coaching. These two sweethearts have been together for what seems like forever while remaining fresh as if it were a new romance. I loved observing the easy banter, laughter, and friendship that they share within their marriage.
They attend and are members of True Light Ministries here in Newberry, SC. They are both ordained ministers. Jason and Tia love the Lord. Sharing their relationship with God with others is one of the ways they show love throughout the community. Sharing their relationship with God is one of the ways they train and develop their children. Jason and Tia have done some local sponsorships within the Newberry community with the most recent one being to the local Ballet Guild.
Family is our greatest legacy and their three children are their pride and joy. Due to the covid 19 pandemic, Jason and Tia now homeschool their children. All three are so polite and well-mannered. Xavier loves animals but is really affectionate with the family German Shepherd (Lady). All three children sing beautifully, a talent that comes from their dad’s side of the family I am told. Laila plays the keyboards. Xavier and Benjamin play the drums. All three are learning different types of guitars to play. Benjamin gives the best hugs in the world.
Lastly, spending quality time together and making memories is very important to the Devette’s. They love a good old fashion movie night just as much as playing different board games. They love going to classic car shows. Jason, Xavier, and Benjamin are working on restoring a car themselves. If all else fails there's nothing like a good road trip.
In closing Tia and Jason both come from a long line of southern cooks and bakers. They are blessed to have their café/ bakery Liala’s Place located in the heart of Newberry. Stop by and visit them some time.
